Overview
The Senior Authorised Person will play a critical role in supporting the safe delivery of projects across the NGED network by acting within their level of authorisation. The contractor will collaborate with site teams, project managers, and Network Control to ensure effective operational coverage and adherence to safety protocols. This position is essential for planning and executing high voltage switching and managing safety documentation in accordance with NGED procedures.
Responsibilities
- Act as SAP on the NGED network within the level of authorisation.
- Plan and execute high voltage switching, isolations, earthing, and restorations.
- Review outage requirements and prepare switching schedules.
- Establish and maintain Safety from the System.
- Prepare, issue, and cancel safety documents in accordance with NGED procedures.
- Support site teams during cable, substation, new connections, and asset replacement works.
- Coordinate with Network Control, project managers, and delivery teams ahead of planned works.
- Provide technical guidance and resolve operational issues as they arise.
Requirements
- Current or previous NGED SAP authorisation at 11kV; 33kV authorisations are advantageous.
- Proven practical experience of high voltage switching on distribution networks.
- Experience in preparing switching schedules and issuing safety documents.
- Strong knowledge of NGED safety rules and operational procedures.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Network Control and multiple site teams.
- Willingness to support planned shutdowns and occasional out-of-hours switching.
