Overview
The Senior AWS Platform Engineer will work as part of a consultancy within a public sector organization, focusing on the development and evolution of a cloud-based occupancy data platform hosted on AWS. The role involves designing, building, and supporting cloud infrastructure, as well as automating integrations and collaborating with various engineering teams to meet technical requirements. This is an initial contract position with the possibility of extension, requiring the candidate to hold active SC clearance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and platform services.
- Develop and support data ingestion and integration solutions.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend integration services.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and associated tooling.
- Implement monitoring, logging and observability capabilities across the platform.
- Conduct troubleshooting and resolve platform, deployment and integration issues.
- Contribute to technical design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Active SC Clearance.
- Significant experience designing, building and supporting AWS platforms in production environments.
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines, ideally with GitHub Actions.
- Strong Python development skills for automation, APIs and backend services.
- Experience developing and supporting REST APIs and integration services.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, and EventBridge.
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
