Overview
As a Field Engineer, you will deliver professional field engineering services across Scottish Power’s strategic telecommunications network in Scotland, ensuring excellence in project delivery and assurance activities. You will collaborate with project engineers to provide 24/7 first-line support for key utilities, while managing risks and adhering to quality and safety standards. Technical expertise in networking principles and a strong track record in technical project implementation are essential in this role.
Responsibilities
- Ensure projects meet agreed parameters for time, cost, quality, and health & safety.
- Complete project documentation as required by the project engineer.
- Monitor project progress and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify and escalate issues and risks appropriately.
- Communicate timely updates and information to all stakeholders.
- Deliver technical, test, and quality plans as agreed with the project engineer.
- Administer necessary project administrative tasks.
- Provide first-line assurance activities on a 24/7 basis in line with contract SLA targets.
Requirements
- Proven experience in engineering installation and commissioning.
- Experience in maintenance and assurance activities.
- Strong skills in written and oral communication.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office and Teams.
- In-depth knowledge of networking principles including routing, switching, and IP networking (WAN, LAN, MPLS).
- Valid UK driving licence.
- Technical qualifications in DC Charger, PDH, SDH, Comtel, and microwave radio technologies.
- Knowledge of Cisco and Alcatel products, and experience in high voltage environments up to 400kv is desirable.
