Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend AI Engineer to join a technical team focused on developing production-grade software with AI capabilities. This contractor position emphasizes backend engineering, requiring the design and delivery of robust Python services while integrating advanced LLM functionalities. The role involves significant technical ownership, including code review and implementation of features into production.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop reliable Python backend services integrating AI capabilities.
- Review code and make engineering decisions to ensure high-quality code standards.
- Implement production APIs/services while maintaining strong testing and code maintainability practices.
- Utilize AWS or similar cloud platforms for deployment and infrastructure management.
- Work with Docker for modern deployment practices and integration of AI development tools.
- Conduct senior-level code reviews and take ownership of code quality.
Requirements
- Proven experience in commercial Python programming and development.
- Familiarity with FastAPI and asynchronous Python programming.
- Experience in building and supporting production-grade APIs/services.
- Strong competency in testing practices, typed code, and maintainability.
- Knowledge of AWS or comparable cloud services, along with Terraform for infrastructure management.
- Proficiency with Docker and contemporary deployment methodologies.
- Previous experience integrating LLMs into production applications is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with additional tools such as Kubernetes or PostgreSQL is a plus.
