Overview
The Senior AI Engineer/Scientist role is a remote contract position focused on creating and optimizing advanced AI systems for the clinical study documentation process. The contractor will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop production-grade agentic AI solutions that improve the quality and efficiency of clinical workflows, leveraging expertise in applied AI, NLP, and cloud technology.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize agentic and multi-agent AI systems for clinical document authoring.
- Develop workflows that coordinate planning, drafting, evidence ingestion, validation, and compliance-checking agents.
- Improve agent reasoning quality, robustness, traceability, and alignment with clinical-domain requirements.
- Evaluate and enhance LLM and agent behavior through testing and observability techniques.
- Implement NLP techniques for information extraction, structuring, retrieval, and generation from complex documents.
- Engineer AI/ML systems for production use, ensuring strong software engineering practices in Python.
- Design and implement cloud-native AI solutions, primarily on AWS, with a focus on serverless architectures.
- Apply MLOps practices for model and data lifecycle management including reproducibility and controlled change.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with GenAI and agentic AI solutions, particularly in multi-agent workflows.
- Proficient in Python with a solid foundation in software engineering for production systems.
- Experience in NLP and information processing specific to complex documents.
- Proven track record of deploying AI, ML, or LLM systems in production environments.
- Significant cloud architecture experience with a preference for AWS, including serverless and event-driven solutions.
- Familiarity with MLOps, DevOps, and data lifecycle management practices.
- Experience in life sciences, clinical development, or a regulated industry is advantageous.
- Ability to work collaboratively across technical and domain teams to translate requirements into effective AI capabilities.
