Overview
The selected contractor will join the Platform team to develop a new cloud-agnostic platform over an initial 6-month contract. They will focus on building and owning backend APIs using TypeScript and Node.js, working collaboratively to ensure operational reliability and effective testing. This position is ideal for someone looking to take complete ownership of their services from development through to production.
Responsibilities
- Design and build backend APIs using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Take full ownership of services from the first commit to production.
- Develop and implement health checks, smoke tests, and diagnostics.
- Collaborate with QA to enhance test automation processes.
- Create practical runbooks that serve operational needs.
- Work closely with the platform team to ensure system reliability.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with TypeScript and Node.js on the backend.
- Ability to own services thoroughly, not just during the build phase.
- Experience with API development and operational engineering.
- Genuine interest in the operational side of software engineering.
- Familiarity with runbooks and API documentation processes.
