Overview
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in Node.js and TypeScript for a fully remote, 12-month contract role within a dynamic fintech environment. In this position, you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend systems while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Your contributions will significantly impact the evolution of the platform as you take ownership of the architecture and technical direction.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and operate reliable, scalable backend services.
- Own areas of the platform, including architecture and technical direction.
- Build resilient APIs and distributed systems within a regulated financial environment.
- Work with AWS serverless technologies, including Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, and API Gateway.
- Utilize MongoDB and document databases in applications.
- Contribute to CI/CD processes, observability, incident management, and production support.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to deliver scalable solutions.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering standards and best practices.
Requirements
- Strong experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Proficient in system design and architecture.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and serverless technologies.
- Familiarity with MongoDB and document databases.
- Understanding of distributed systems, observability, and incident management.
- Experience with CI/CD and production operations.
- Prior involvement in a regulated environment, preferably in FinTech or financial services.
- Comfortable with owning services in a build-and-run environment.
