Overview
This Senior Data Engineer role focuses on supporting a large-scale enterprise transformation programme, specifically related to SAP/S/4HANA migration. The contractor will collaborate with Data Architects and Analysts to design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating data from various legacy systems into a modern ERP landscape. The position emphasizes the delivery of high-quality and auditable data migrations, requiring a strong technical background in data engineering and migration.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines for complex migration programmes.
- Integrate and harmonise data from multiple source systems into a unified target model.
- Build automated reconciliation, validation, and exception-handling processes.
- Deliver data integrations using APIs, batch processing, and messaging technologies.
- Support migration rehearsals, cutover activities, and post-migration validation.
- Develop reusable engineering frameworks and maintain high documentation standards.
Requirements
- Extensive Data Engineering experience on enterprise-scale migration programmes.
- Strong experience migrating data from multiple heterogeneous source systems.
- Advanced SQL and Python (or another programming language).
- Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, Snowflake, or similar cloud data platforms.
- Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, and governance.
- Experience designing scalable, repeatable ETL processes.
- Knowledge of DevOps/CI-CD practices is beneficial.
- SAP S/4HANA migration experience is a plus.
