Overview
In this hybrid contract role, the Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of a new centralized data warehouse and modern reporting capabilities for the organization. The contractor will embark on a hands-on journey from discovery and architecture design through to implementation and knowledge transfer, working closely with various stakeholders to meet their data needs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of a Microsoft Fabric data platform.
- Design and implement scalable data warehouse/lakehouse architecture.
- Build and optimise automated data pipelines from various sources.
- Replace manual reporting processes with robust ETL/ELT solutions.
- Develop data models for operational, commercial, and financial reporting.
- Enhance data quality, governance, security, and access controls.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to improve reporting and Power BI capabilities.
- Produce technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Requirements
- Proven experience delivering production data platforms using Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong hands-on experience with Fabric Data Factory.
- Experience designing and implementing data warehouse or lakehouse solutions.
- Advanced SQL and data modelling expertise.
- Experience integrating SaaS applications via REST APIs and database connectors.
- Experience building and optimising automated ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Experience designing data models for Power BI.
- Ability to work directly with business stakeholders to understand data requirements.
