Solution Architect

Overview

The Solution Architect for Data (GCP / AWS) will be responsible for owning the data architecture of a high-volume online marketplace amidst a significant technological transformation. Collaborating closely with a fragmented data team, the architect will optimize the current GCP data stack while also architecting a future state for AWS. This role suits candidates who thrive in fast-paced environments and possess a strategic mindset, as they will be shaping the data strategy and structural changes within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Own the data architecture for a high-volume online marketplace.
  • Optimize data models on the Google Cloud Platform and manage BigQuery costs.
  • Lead the architectural design towards a future state on AWS.
  • Collaborate with the data team to streamline reporting and analytics.
  • Set and define data strategy within the organization.
  • Shape structural changes to integrate data scientists within teams.
  • Engage in research-led initiatives for high-volume data workflows.
  • Support the transition from Looker to other BI tools as necessary.

Requirements

  • Extensive senior data architecture experience on large-scale platforms.
  • Deep knowledge of GCP data tools: BigQuery, DBT, and data pipeline tools like Data Stream.
  • Comfortable optimizing data estates on both GCP and AWS.
  • Proven ability to design and optimize data models with cost considerations.
  • Experience in building self-service reporting and analytics frameworks.
  • Ability to set data strategy and implement it effectively.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with BI tooling transitions or data migrations across cloud providers is a plus.
