Overview
The role of Solution Architect for Data focuses on overseeing the data architecture for a high-volume online marketplace undergoing a significant technological transformation. The contractor will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the current data stack on Google Cloud Platform and build toward a future state on AWS, while also shaping structural changes within the data team. Responsibilities
- Own the data architecture for a high-volume online marketplace.
- Optimize existing data models on Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, DBT, Data Stream).
- Architect the transition of the data estate from GCP to AWS.
- Develop and implement cost management strategies for data consumption.
- Lead the transition towards a self-service reporting model.
- Shape structural changes within the data team to enhance technical leadership.
- Support the introduction of data scientists to improve analytics and seller attraction.
- Contribute to strategic discussions around larger data transformation initiatives.
Requirements
- Senior-level experience in data architecture for large-scale platforms.
- Deep knowledge of Google Cloud Platform tools, specifically BigQuery, DBT, and Data Stream.
- Comfortable working with both GCP and AWS to optimize existing systems and architect for future states.
- Proven ability to design data models with a focus on consumption cost management.
- Experience in building self-service reporting and analytics frameworks.
- Ability to define and implement a comprehensive data strategy.
- Fluency in English for both written and spoken communication.
- Exposure to migrating data platforms between major cloud providers such as GCP and AWS is a plus.
