Overview
The Senior Data Engineer will play a crucial role in transforming the data landscape of a major consumer goods organization. This contract position involves designing and building data pipelines and infrastructure to consolidate data from various legacy systems into a unified platform, thus influencing the evolution of the data standards and practices within the team. Working in a hybrid setup, the contractor will collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a dynamic environment where processes are still being established.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Consolidate data from multiple, inconsistent source systems into a coherent model.
- Utilize modern data stack tools such as dbt, Airflow, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Work autonomously in an unstructured environment, shaping data processes and standards.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute to the establishment of data governance and quality standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines on cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong proficiency with modern data stack tools, including dbt, Airflow, Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Experience in consolidating data from disparate systems into coherent data models.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, unstructured environment.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with a variety of stakeholders.
- Background in the retail or consumer goods industry is highly desirable.
