Overview
This role is for a Tech Lead responsible for overseeing engineering efforts on a high-volume online marketplace currently undergoing a significant technology transformation. The successful contractor will work with a team on migrating to AWS and evolving the platform into a service-based architecture utilizing TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python, while fostering a collaborative environment that encourages strategic technical change.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering teams in a migration to AWS and the development of a new service-based architecture.
- Set and communicate technical direction and engineering standards.
- Drive the implementation of agentic AI workflows and retail media integrations into the platform.
- Ensure on-time delivery while adapting to a fast-paced and complex environment.
- Mentor and inspire the engineering team in best practices and technical excellence.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
- Continuously improve platform performance and cost-efficiency at scale.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in principal-level engineering covering cloud, architecture, data, authentication, front-end, and APIs.
- Proven track record in building service-based platforms using AWS, with a strong understanding of infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or CDK.
- Proficient in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python; familiarity with PHP (Laravel) is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to establish engineering standards and effectively communicate decisions.
- Experience leading engineering delivery in fast-paced and complex environments.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
