Overview
The Solution Architect, Data will lead the data architecture for a high-volume online marketplace that is undergoing significant technology transformations. This role involves optimizing the current Google Cloud Platform (GCP) data stack while simultaneously planning for a migration to Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance the organization's data strategy and performance. The contractor will work collaboratively to implement self-service reporting solutions and drive cost-effective data management, within a flexible working arrangement that allows for home or mixed office setup.
Responsibilities
- Own the data architecture for a high-volume online marketplace.
- Optimize the current GCP data stack including BigQuery and DBT to manage costs and enhance performance.
- Design and architect data models with a focus on consumption costs.
- Transition reporting from Looker towards a self-service model.
- Plan and execute the migration of the data estate from GCP to AWS.
- Shape structural changes within the data team to align with technical leadership objectives.
- Collaborate with data scientists to support seller attraction and analytics initiatives.
Requirements
- Significant experience in senior data architecture on large-scale platforms.
- Expertise in GCP data tools, especially BigQuery, DBT, and Data Stream.
- Familiarity with AWS and capacity to architect towards an AWS target state.
- Proven ability to design and optimize data models for cost efficiency.
- Experience in establishing data strategy beyond mere implementation.
- Proficient in both written and spoken English.
- Experience with BI tool transitions or moving reporting off Looker is a plus.
- Exposure to migrating data platforms between major cloud providers.
