Overview
The Tech Lead will oversee engineering efforts on a high-volume online marketplace undergoing significant technological transformation. Working closely with cross-functional teams, the contractor will set the technical direction during the migration to AWS and the development of a service-based architecture using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python. This role is suited for hands-on professionals who can manage complex projects and advocate for strategic technical changes in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts for a major technology transformation on an online marketplace.
- Set the technical direction during the migration to AWS and the build of a service-based architecture.
- Collaborate with teams to develop and implement cloud infrastructure using Terraform or CDK.
- Maintain high engineering standards while conducting efficient delivery management.
- Produce and maintain documentation for technical decisions and project progress.
- Engage in hands-on development in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python, with the ability to work with PHP (Laravel).
- Advocate for technical changes and effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders.
- Drive innovation by integrating advanced AI workflows into the platform.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in principal-level engineering across cloud, architecture, data, authentication, front-end, and APIs.
- Proven track record in building service-based platforms in AWS with infrastructure as code.
- Proficient in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python, with the ability to read and work with PHP (Laravel).
- Ability to set engineering standards and communicate technical decisions effectively.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, complex environment with a focus on strategic outcomes.
- Comfortable conducting discussions and collaborations in English, both written and spoken.
- Desirable: Background in retail or e-commerce.
- Experience leading major re-architecture or cloud migration projects.
