Solution Architect

Overview

The Autonomy Solution Architect will lead the development of a modular autonomy architecture for an autonomous vehicle project. This senior technical-leadership role involves transforming customer missions and product priorities into a cohesive technical solution, overseeing the architecture related to onboard software, remote operations, and safety systems. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and suppliers while ensuring successful integration and trials in maritime environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own the target and reference architecture, including all relevant components and services.
  • Define functional boundaries, authority transfer, and safe-state behaviors.
  • Create and manage architecture views, service contracts, APIs, and data models.
  • Translate the engineering roadmap into actionable delivery plans and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead verification processes, supplier integrations, and architecture reviews.
  • Support commissioning, integration, trials, and early deployments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in architecting and delivering autonomy systems or safety-related cyber-physical systems.
  • Ability to interpret mission requirements into technical architectures and delivery plans.
  • Familiarity with modular architectures, APIs, and simulation methods (SIL/HIL).
  • Understanding of safety standards and assurance processes for high-integrity systems.
  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance and readiness to travel to trial sites.
  • Desirable: Experience in marine autonomy, remote operating centres, and knowledge of ROS 2/DDS.
  • Familiarity with C++/Python and functional safety standards is a plus.
