Solutions Architect

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to lead the architectural vision for a major operational platform replacement programme. In this hybrid role, you will collaborate with the Business Analyst and Delivery Manager to define target architectures while ensuring alignment with internal technology interests. This position offers the opportunity to establish and oversee the integration architecture, driving the transition to a scalable Azure-based platform.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and document the current technology landscape and architecture.
  • Design the target Operations Platform architecture using Azure-based event-driven solutions.
  • Own and manage integration architecture across operational systems and third-party applications.
  • Define data architecture and ensure proper event data flows into analytics solutions like Databricks.
  • Assess vendor capabilities and provide technical assurance during selection and implementation.
  • Challenge vendor designs to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and security requirements.
  • Document current and future-state architectures, key decisions, and transition roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure a seamless transition from current to target state.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect, Integration Architect, or Enterprise Architect in major system replacements.
  • Strong expertise in Azure architecture, particularly event-driven designs and integration patterns.
  • Experience managing integration across complex operational estates involving multiple systems.
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, especially with platforms like Databricks and Microsoft Fabric.
  • Technical assurance experience within vendor-led SaaS procurement and implementation projects.
  • Ability to identify architectural gaps and create pragmatic transition roadmaps.
  • Confidence in challenging vendor designs and advocating for internal technology interests.
  • Experience in logistics or supply chain environments is advantageous.
