Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) with expertise in Rust and Java as the primary languages and React and Python as secondary skills. This role involves collaborating with a product-focused engineering team to modernize backend services and enhance frontend user experiences in a fully remote capacity. The successful candidate will take on complex technical challenges while influencing architectural decisions in a rapidly evolving tech environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build reliable and high-performance customer-facing applications with React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction, engineering standards, and architectural decisions.
- Apply best practices for performance, reliability, testing, and security.
- Leverage AI-assisted development tools for coding and debugging tasks.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Full Stack / Backend Engineer in production environments.
- Strong backend engineering experience with Rust and Java, ideally both.
- Commercial experience with building modern frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python, particularly in backend services and APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and cloud-native development.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Ability to onboard quickly and deliver value in a contractor capacity.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows.
