Overview
The role of Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) involves working on a globally distributed tech platform focused on modernizing backend services and improving frontend experiences. This position allows the contractor to leverage their expertise in Rust and Java primarily, with secondary experience in React and Python, to develop scalable applications and influence architectural decisions. Collaborating closely with product, design, and platform teams, the contractor will take ownership of complex technical challenges across the entire stack.
Responsibilities
- Design and optimize scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Develop and maintain high-performance, customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations with Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence engineering standards and architectural direction across the platform.
- Apply best practices for performance, reliability, testing, and security.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding and testing.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack Engineer.
- Strong backend expertise in Rust and Java with production experience.
- Commercial development experience with React for modern frontend applications.
- Hands-on experience with Python in backend services or API development.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflows.
- Contractor mindset with a strong ability to onboard quickly and deliver value fast.
