Overview
We are seeking a skilled Staff Full Stack Engineer for a 12-month contract focused on developing and optimizing scalable backend services using Rust and Java, while also working on customer-facing applications with React and Python. This fully remote position requires an experienced contractor to collaborate with a product-focused engineering team, influencing architectural decisions and ensuring the delivery of high-performance systems and impactful functionality for users. The role emphasizes ownership of complex features and integration with various teams to enhance the platform's overall performance and reliability.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems focusing on scalability and maintainability.
- Develop and maintain modern customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams for impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction, engineering standards, and architectural decisions.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for coding and debugging.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Strong backend engineering experience with Rust and/or Java.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming and distributed systems.
- Commercial experience developing frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python in the context of backend services or APIs.
- Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience with performance-focused backend development.
- Comfortable using AI-assisted development tools in an engineering workflow.
