Overview
The Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) will focus on developing scalable backend services primarily using Rust and Java, while also working on customer-facing applications with React and Python. They will be part of a product-focused engineering team within a fast-scaling tech business, contributing to architectural decisions and influencing engineering standards. Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable applications with a focus on clean architecture.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services and APIs with Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from design through to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to enhance customer functionality.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools for improving the coding workflow.
Requirements
- Extensive experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Strong background with Rust and/or Java, preferably with commercial exposure to both.
- Commercial experience developing frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python, particularly in backend development.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools in engineering workflow.
- Ability to onboard quickly, communicate effectively and take ownership of projects.
