Overview
We are seeking a Staff Full Stack Engineer (Contract) who will play a pivotal role in a globally distributed tech organization focused on enhancing its platform architecture. This fully remote position will involve collaborating with an experienced engineering team to develop scalable backend systems, modern customer-facing applications, and contribute to architectural decisions while leveraging modern development practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Rust and Java, along with hands-on experience in React and Python, to drive impactful product development.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable backend services using Rust and Java.
- Build high-performance, reliable systems focused on scalability and clean architecture.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing applications using React.
- Contribute to backend services, APIs, and integrations utilizing Python.
- Take ownership of complex features from architectural design to production delivery.
- Collaborate with product, design, and platform teams to deliver impactful functionality.
- Influence technical direction and engineering standards across the platform.
- Apply best practices for performance, reliability, testing, and security.
Requirements
- Extensive commercial experience as a Senior or Staff-level Full Stack / Backend Engineer.
- Strong backend expertise in Rust and/or Java, with exposure to both preferred.
- Solid understanding of concurrent programming, distributed systems, and backend performance development.
- Commercial experience in developing modern frontend applications using React.
- Hands-on experience with Python for backend services and APIs.
- Knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, and scalable architecture.
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade systems.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for coding and debugging.
