Overview
We are seeking a Contract Systems Test Engineer to modernize production test systems for lighting controllers over an 8-12 month duration. The role will involve close collaboration with engineers to define and develop new automated test systems, transitioning from outdated solutions to improved, maintainable systems. The position requires engagement in requirements definition and selecting appropriate hardware in addition to software development, specifically utilizing LabVIEW and TestStand.
Responsibilities
- Develop new automated test systems from the ground up.
- Collaborate with engineers to understand testing requirements and design the overall test system.
- Specify and select appropriate test hardware and instrumentation based on system requirements.
- Create ATE and test stand solutions using off-the-shelf equipment.
- Document system requirements, design decisions, and configurations for test systems.
- Integrate test and measurement equipment into robust, maintainable systems.
- Lead technical discussions on requirements, hardware, and test architecture.
- Transition from fragile production test systems to more maintainable solutions.
Requirements
- Strong experience with LabVIEW and/or TestStand for automated test system development.
- Experience in integrating test and measurement hardware into automated systems.
- Familiarity with building or working with Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Knowledge of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) test and measurement equipment is desirable.
- Experience with NI PXI technology is a plus.
- Ability to work with and understand test hardware and measurement equipment.
- Strong preference for maintainable solutions using commercially available equipment rather than bespoke systems.
- Background in defining and specifying test hardware is essential.
