Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead Contractor to join a dynamic engineering team engaged in the development of complex, mission-critical software. This role emphasizes hands-on engineering responsibilities, with a focus on designing, coding, and improving production services while collaborating with various stakeholders throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Take technical ownership of key services and delivery outcomes.
- Spend the majority of your time coding, reviewing, and enhancing production software.
- Provide technical direction and make architectural and design decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to clarify requirements and identify technical risks.
- Support and mentor engineers through pairing and code reviews.
- Improve standards around testing, performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Identify technical debt and performance bottlenecks.
- Facilitate sprint planning and contribute to service improvements during production incidents.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience in Golang and/or Python.
- Proven experience in building and operating production-grade backend services.
- Previous technical leadership experience within engineering teams.
- In-depth understanding of microservices, APIs, and distributed systems.
- Experience with containerised/cloud-native environments.
- Solid knowledge of software design, testing, and secure engineering practices.
- Ability to assess systems for scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Strong communication skills and comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.
