Overview
We are seeking a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer to join a leading organization for an initial 3-month contract. In this role, the contractor will work closely with cross-functional teams to migrate existing services to a newly established Azure hub-and-spoke platform, utilizing AKS, Terraform, and Helm. The primary focus will be on modernizing infrastructure, optimizing Azure services, and ensuring smooth CI/CD operations.
Responsibilities
- Migrate existing services onto AKS and into new Azure subscriptions.
- Move services and pipelines into a new Azure DevOps project and standardize deployment processes.
- Develop and maintain Terraform modules across multiple environments/regions.
- Author and maintain Helm charts for microservices.
- Support Kubernetes deployments, ingress, workload identity, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- Optimize Azure services for performance and cost, particularly Cosmos DB and Redis.
- Produce clear runbooks and handover documentation for SRE teams.
- Maintain healthy CI/CD pipelines and assist with wider platform engineering activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience with Azure, particularly AKS and hub-and-spoke landing zones.
- Strong knowledge of Terraform for multi-environment deployments and remote Azure state management.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Helm for chart development and deployments.
- Solid understanding of Azure networking and security, including Front Door, WAF, Firewall, and RBAC.
- Demonstrated experience with Azure DevOps, particularly in pipeline management and automation.
- Experience migrating live services across Azure subscriptions or environments.
- Familiarity with cost and performance optimization strategies in Azure.
- Ability to work independently in a senior contract capacity, with desirable knowledge in .NET/containerization and security tooling.
