Structured Cabling Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling Engineer to join an installation team focused on delivering network infrastructure projects at a large site. This hands-on role requires strong expertise in structured cabling and fibre installation, working closely with a dedicated team to ensure efficient project execution. The engineer will be responsible for various installation and testing tasks while adhering to health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Install network cabinets, containment, and Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling.
  • Terminate, test, and label copper and fibre cabling.
  • Install and patch network switches.
  • Install fibre optic cabling through internal, pit, and duct routes.
  • Conduct fibre termination, patching, testing, and fault-finding.
  • Use OTDR equipment for testing and troubleshooting fibre connections.
  • Test copper and fibre cabling using Fluke testers.
  • Complete QA documentation and daily reports according to project requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Network Installation Engineer, Structured Cabling Engineer, Fibre Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with fibre optic termination, including cold cure and splicing.
  • Experience with Cat5e and Cat6 copper cabling installation.
  • Proficient in testing copper and fibre cabling with Fluke testers.
  • Familiarity with OTDR testing and fault-finding techniques.
  • Ability to work with network cabinets and structured cabling infrastructure.
  • Solid understanding of current network installation practices and health & safety standards.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
