Network Installation Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Network Installation Engineer for a hands-on, on-site role to support network infrastructure projects. You will join an installation team responsible for delivering high-quality network installations, ensuring adherence to safety standards while maintaining an organized work environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in cabling practices and have a strong commitment to workmanship and team collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Install network cabinets, containment, and Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling.
  • Terminate, test, and label copper and fibre cabling.
  • Install and patch network switches.
  • Install fibre optic cabling through internal, pit, and duct routes.
  • Conduct fibre termination, patching, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Utilize OTDR equipment for fibre testing and fault finding.
  • Complete QA documentation and daily shift reports.
  • Adhere to project plans, RAMS, and site procedures for safety.

Requirements

  • Proven experience terminating fibre optic cables, including cold cure and splicing.
  • Strong copper cabling experience, specifically with Cat5e/Cat6.
  • Experience testing copper and fibre using Fluke testers.
  • Good knowledge of current network installation practices.
  • Ability to work to high standards in a team environment.
  • Previous experience supervising or supporting staff in a customer-facing setting.
  • Relevant certifications like IPAF, PASMA or Confined Space are desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence is preferred.
