Overview
The Systems Data Analyst contractor will play a key role in the analysis and documentation of existing databases and data structures that support critical business applications. Working closely with development teams, the contractor will facilitate the migration and integration of data into modern cloud-hosted platforms, ensuring that legacy systems are thoroughly documented and understood. This role is essential for the successful modernization of applications and data transformation initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Analyse existing databases, applications, and source systems to understand structures and relationships.
- Create detailed documentation of database schemas, tables, columns, relationships, and constraints.
- Produce source-to-target mapping documentation for data migration initiatives.
- Conduct reverse engineering of databases where documentation is lacking to understand data logic.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure accurate data integration into new platforms.
- Support the migration process from relational to NoSQL databases.
Requirements
- Proficient in SQL with the ability to interrogate data across multiple platforms.
- Strong understanding of relational database concepts and data modelling principles.
- Experience migrating data from relational databases to NoSQL databases such as Cosmos.
- Familiarity with ETL, ELT, and data transformation methodologies.
- Understanding of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
