Overview
The Tech Lead role involves leading engineering efforts for a large-scale online marketplace currently undergoing a significant technology transformation, including a migration to AWS and a rebuild of the platform using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python. You will work in a flexible environment where you can choose to operate fully remotely or in a hybrid model, collaborating with various teams to set the technical direction and ensure successful delivery. This position demands a strong hands-on approach with a strategic mindset in a fast-paced and demanding setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts on a high-volume online marketplace.
- Set technical direction during a major technology transformation.
- Ensure the successful migration of services to AWS.
- Develop and maintain service-based architecture using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python.
- Establish and uphold engineering standards across the team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate smooth delivery of projects.
- Communicate technical decisions and strategies effectively to stakeholders.
- Advocate for and implement technical changes to improve platform performance and capabilities.
Requirements
- Demonstrated principal-level engineering breadth in cloud, architecture, data, authentication, front-end development, and APIs.
- Experience in building service-based platforms in AWS, utilizing Infrastructure as Code frameworks like Terraform or CDK.
- Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python, with the ability to read and work with PHP (Laravel).
- Strong track record of leading engineering teams in complex and fast-paced environments.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
- Experience in retail or e-commerce environments is a plus.
- Background in leading major re-architecture or cloud migration projects is advantageous.
- Familiarity with GenAI or agentic workflows in engineering practices could be beneficial.
