Overview
The Tech Lead will oversee engineering initiatives on a high-volume online marketplace currently undergoing a significant technology transformation. This role involves leading a migration to AWS and transitioning the platform to a service-based architecture using TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively in a flexible work environment and drive strategic technical changes while staying hands-on in a fast-paced, complex environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering efforts for a high-volume online marketplace;
- Set technical direction during the migration to AWS;
- Oversee the development of a service-based architecture in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python;
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards and effectively communicate decisions;
- Facilitate delivery in a dynamic and complex setting;
- Engage in hands-on development and collaboration across technologies;
- Drive strategic initiatives, including AI workflows and retail media integration.
Requirements
- Proven experience in principal-level engineering across cloud, architecture, data, authentication, front-end, and APIs;
- Demonstrated success in building service-based platforms in AWS with infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK);
- Proficient in TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python, with the ability to read and work with PHP (Laravel);
- Strong communication skills, able to convey decisions with authority;
- Experience leading complex projects in fast-paced environments;
- Comfortable working in English, both written and spoken;
- Retail or e-commerce experience is a plus.
