Overview
The Tech Lead position is a contract role that requires expertise in AWS, TypeScript, and Python to lead engineering efforts on a high-volume online marketplace undergoing significant technological transformation. In this role, the contractor will drive the migration to a service-oriented architecture while collaborating with a team in a dynamic environment, advocating for strategic technical changes and ensuring the smooth progress of project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering team in the design and implementation of a service-based architecture on AWS.
- Set and maintain engineering standards across cloud, architecture, and data.
- Oversee the migration from PHP/Laravel to a TypeScript, JavaScript, and Python environment.
- Advocate for and implement technical changes aligned with project goals.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive delivery.
- Provide hands-on support and technical guidance in a fast-paced setting.
- Communicate architectural and engineering decisions effectively to stakeholders.
- Drive innovation through research-led initiatives in a complex platform environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience in principal-level engineering across cloud, architecture, data, auth, front-end and APIs.
- Demonstrated track record of building service-based platforms on AWS, utilizing infrastructure as code (Terraform or CDK).
- Proficient in TypeScript and Python, with the ability to work with JavaScript and PHP (Laravel).
- Strong communication skills to convey technical decisions with authority.
- Experience leading within fast-paced, complex environments.
