Overview
We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead/Principal Engineer for a contract role focusing on a major financial services project. In this client-facing position, you will drive solution architecture and technical leadership, collaborating with engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable and secure solutions across complex mobile and backend platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead solution architecture and technical design for mobile applications and backend services.
- Assess existing systems and identify architectural gaps.
- Define technical solutions and create architectural blueprints, including greenfield components.
- Collaborate with client engineering teams to integrate systems and enhance workflows.
- Provide technical leadership to guide engineering decisions and uphold best practices.
- Work closely with product, design, and delivery teams to align solutions with business and technical requirements.
- Engage confidently with senior stakeholders as a trusted technical advisor.
- Balance immediate delivery needs with long-term architecture considerations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in software engineering, serving as a Tech Lead, Principal Engineer, Staff Engineer, or Solution Architect.
- Strong background in financial services, specifically in banking, payments, or fintech.
- Proven experience in mobile product development and backend architecture.
- Expertise in designing end-to-end solutions utilizing APIs, microservices, cloud infrastructure, and distributed systems.
- Technical proficiency in backend languages such as TypeScript/JavaScript, Java, or .NET.
- Experience working with AWS.
- Deep understanding of architecture design patterns, API integrations, and event-driven architecture.
- Ability to assess technology environments and recommend effective technical solutions.
