Overview
We are seeking a Principal Java Engineer with strong experience in the retail sector to join our dynamic team on a six-month contract basis. In this role, the successful candidate will engage in hands-on software development, lead technical discussions, and collaborate with product and engineering teams to drive technical solutions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services within a cloud environment. Responsibilities
- Lead technical deep dives and knowledge sharing within development teams.
- Write high-quality Java code using frameworks such as Spring Boot or Micronaut.
- Develop robust services that support secure, high-volume payment transactions.
- Build and maintain cloud-native systems, preferably on Azure, using Terraform and Kubernetes.
- Manage CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions to ensure smooth production delivery.
- Champion secure coding practices and promote compliance with regulatory standards.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, promoting technical excellence across the team.
- Continuously identify opportunities for platform improvement and innovation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Principal Java Engineer in backend-heavy environments.
- Strong expertise in Java 17+, with experience in Spring Boot or Micronaut preferred.
- Hands-on knowledge of Kafka, event-driven architecture, and microservices.
- Solid understanding of payment systems and PSP integrations, including fraud and tokenization flows.
- Experience with Azure cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards such as PCI DSS, SCA, and PSD2.
- Strong communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams with a DevOps culture and test-driven mindset.
