Overview
We are seeking a Senior Java Engineer to join a prominent technology organization specializing in financial services and energy trading. This hands-on role involves developing bespoke software solutions for financial markets clients, participating in both new and existing project initiatives, and collaborating with experienced engineering teams to address complex technical challenges. The work will primarily focus on settlement and post-trade environments, while also offering exposure to digital assets and blockchain technology.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance server-side Java/JVM applications, utilizing Java as the primary back-end technology.
- Build robust services using Spring and Spring Boot.
- Work on both greenfield and brownfield projects within financial services and trading environments.
- Develop solutions supporting settlement and post-trade workflows, specifically within equities.
- Utilize Kubernetes and event-driven architecture within on-premise and some Azure cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and stakeholders to translate complex requirements into effective solutions.
- Own technical challenges from investigation through to implementation and delivery.
- Adapt to ambiguous situations and changing requirements in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- 5–10+ years' commercial software development experience.
- Strong server-side Java/JVM development skills.
- Proficient in Spring and Spring Boot frameworks.
- Experience with complex greenfield and/or brownfield systems.
- Strong Linux proficiency.
- Background in financial services, financial markets, trading or energy trading.
- Hands-on development experience is essential, rather than purely architectural roles.
- Strong problem-solving capabilities and ability to work independently in ambiguous scenarios.
