Overview
We are seeking a Test Engineer to join our team on a significant public sector digital transformation programme, focused on replacing legacy processes with modern digital services. This role entails working closely with a small, experienced test team and client staff, where you will contribute to the implementation and enhancement of established test strategies and automation frameworks. This is a hands-on position that offers the opportunity for specialization and development within a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Execute and extend the existing test strategy and automation framework from day one.
- Perform API testing using tools like Postman to ensure robust service functionality.
- Manage test documentation, ensuring thorough evidence and records for audit purposes.
- Raise, describe, and track software defects, clearly communicating their impact.
- Develop and maintain automated tests within the preferred Playwright framework or using alternative tools.
- Conduct non-functional testing, focusing on areas such as accessibility and performance.
- Collaborate effectively in blended squads composed of both internal and client team members.
- Engage in continuous learning to adapt to new technologies and testing practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Test Engineer in agile delivery environments.
- Hands-on experience with API testing, specifically using REST APIs and tools like Postman.
- Familiarity with structured test management tools, particularly Azure DevOps Test Plans.
- Strong documentation skills, with attention to detail for formal audit requirements.
- Experience in defect management, including the ability to articulate risk and impact.
- Working knowledge of test automation, preferably with Playwright, or strong experience with Cypress/Selenium.
- Exposure to non-functional testing, particularly in accessibility and performance.
- Understanding of healthcare interoperability standards, such as HL7 FHIR, is advantageous.
