Overview
We are seeking an experienced Test Manager for a 6-month contract role focused on building digital testing capabilities within a complex transformation programme. This hands-on position requires direct involvement in test execution while designing a comprehensive testing framework that integrates internal and external testers. Collaborating closely with delivery partners, the successful candidate will drive best practices and governance in a supportive role, enhancing testing capabilities across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement an organisation-wide testing framework for various testing types.
- Build lightweight test governance and reporting mechanisms that evolve with maturity.
- Align testing activities with project delivery milestones and associated risks.
- Coach and upskill both business and technical testers to enhance overall testing capabilities.
- Establish and lead a Test Special Interest Group to foster a community of practice.
- Act as a client-side partner to suppliers, ensuring adherence to quality best practices.
- Support the adoption of automated testing tools among delivery partners.
- Engage in hands-on testing as necessary to close capability gaps or meet deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience in building testing functions in low-maturity or greenfield environments.
- Strong hands-on testing skills, with proficiency in both manual and automated testing execution tools.
- Experience with test automation tooling and guiding partners through successful adoption.
- Testing experience with platforms such as Dynamics 365, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, and web applications.
- Demonstrated ability to create scalable test governance and reporting frameworks.
- Strong coaching, facilitation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and developing testing capabilities from minimal existing frameworks.
- Broad consulting experience in complex digital programmes, particularly within the public sector or local government.
