Overview
This role for a User Experience Designer focuses on enhancing digital services within the public sector. The contractor will work with delivery teams on high-impact projects, collaborating with content designers, researchers, and service designers to develop user-centric services. With a priority on design accessibility and inclusivity, this position also offers the opportunity to engage in private sector projects as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with delivery teams to design user-centric digital services.
- Implement rapid prototyping and testing cycles to refine design solutions.
- Engage with stakeholders to advocate for users and gather necessary feedback.
- Ensure compliance with GDS service standards and design principles in all outputs.
- Design accessible and inclusive interfaces according to WCAG standards.
- Utilize Figma for prototyping and design handover effectively.
- Participate in the full assessment lifecycle from discovery through to live deployment.
Requirements
- Significant experience designing for government or regulated public sector services.
- Strong understanding of GDS design principles and Service Standard guidelines.
- Proven track record of managing projects through the assessment lifecycle stages.
- Expertise in designing accessible interfaces that comply with WCAG standards.
- Solid knowledge of responsive and multi-channel design methodologies.
- Proficient in Figma and familiar with Google Docs, GitHub, and design libraries.
- Ability to articulate design decisions and their impact on user experience.
- Eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance and willing to travel to client sites.
