Overview
We are seeking an experienced UX/UI Designer to join a specialist technology consultancy focused on delivering impactful digital services in the public sector. In this role, you will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement user-centered services that enhance the experience for users within government and regulated environments. You will have the opportunity to engage with stakeholders and advocate for user needs while navigating complex challenges in service design.
Responsibilities
- Engage with delivery teams to deliver high-quality UX/UI designs on public sector digital services.
- Design and iterate across various stages including discovery, alpha, beta, and live.
- Run rapid prototyping and user testing cycles to validate design decisions.
- Collaborate closely with content designers, user researchers, and developers in agile settings.
- Ensure adherence to GDS service standards and design principles throughout the project lifecycle.
- Create accessible and inclusive interfaces in alignment with WCAG standards.
- Utilize tools like Figma for prototyping and design handover.
- Advocate for user needs and effectively communicate design rationales to stakeholders.
Requirements
- Deep experience in designing for government or highly regulated public sector services.
- Strong understanding of GDS design principles and the Service Standard.
- Proven track record of leading projects through the full assessment lifecycle.
- Expertise in designing accessible interfaces compliant with WCAG standards.
- Familiarity with responsive and multi-channel design practices.
- Confident in using the GOV.UK Design System or similar pattern libraries.
- Proficient in Figma and other relevant design tools such as Google Docs and GitHub.
- Eligible for Security Check (SC) clearance and willing to travel to client sites.
