Overview
We are seeking a skilled 3rd / 4th Line Infrastructure Engineer to join a newly formed infrastructure team in Central Manchester. The successful candidate will be part of a small group of engineers dedicated to maintaining a robust and secure infrastructure environment while resolving complex operational issues and improving cloud infrastructure. This hands-on position requires collaboration and communication with team members to deliver high-quality IT support.
Responsibilities
- Provide support across a broad range of 3rd and 4th line infrastructure and networking activities.
- Resolve complex technical operational issues related to print server queues, basic networking, and hardware troubleshooting.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting within Azure and firewall technologies.
- Support and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure, including Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
- Ensure mission-critical systems remain stable, secure, and performant.
- Work across Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and virtualized environments.
- Contribute to infrastructure improvements and ongoing technical projects.
- Collaborate within the infrastructure team to deliver high-quality internal IT services.
Requirements
- Minimum of 7 years' hands-on experience in cloud, infrastructure support, and enterprise networking.
- Proficiency in Azure Cloud, including Azure Active Directory and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD), with evidenced hands-on examples.
- Experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
- Demonstrated excellence in troubleshooting complex technical issues independently.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
- Familiarity with firewall technologies (SD-WAN, Meraki, Palo Alto) and VMware is desirable.
- Experience in enterprise-scale networking and server environments (300-400 users/servers) is a plus.
