Overview
The 4th Line Cloud Support Engineer will work on-site in Basingstoke as part of a contract role supporting a prominent Defence and National Security IT provider. This position involves collaborating with a team of 2nd and 3rd Line engineers to address complex escalations while enhancing cloud infrastructure and automating processes. The role is ideal for individuals with significant cloud administration experience, specifically in VMware and Broadcom technologies, who are proactive in problem-solving and interested in developing their technical leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Respond to complex escalations from 3rd Line engineers.
- Assist in Problem Management investigations and root cause analysis.
- Conduct extensive work with VMware products and associated monitoring.
- Create opportunities to automate manual tasks to drive efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Identify single points of failure and design resilience into the service.
- Manage obsolescence across applications and operating systems.
- Collaborate with the Management Team and interact with customers and stakeholders through IT Service Management tools.
- Manage high-profile senior escalations and requests.
Requirements
- Hold UK Sole National with active DV Clearance.
- Possess extensive cloud administration experience using Broadcom SDDC Manager, vCenter, and ESXi.
- Familiarity with event management tooling such as SCOM or SolarWinds.
- Experience with cloud capacity management tools (e.g., Aria Operations).
- Strong understanding of Active Directory Domain Services, Windows Server 2019 or newer, and DNS.
- Demonstrate experience with virtual networking in a cloud-based environment.
- Ability to work in a multi-tenant environment with strong problem-solving skills.
- Previous experience within a secure or Defence environment is desirable.
