Artificial Intelligence Engineer

Overview

As an Artificial Intelligence Engineer, you will collaborate within a high-performing engineering team to design, develop, and enhance AI-powered software solutions. Your primary focus will be on creating frameworks and tools that enable effective software development while ensuring the security and integrity of AI-generated code. This role is particularly suited for individuals with a strong background in delivering AI products in production settings and who are adept at addressing challenges related to performance, reliability, and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Build and deliver AI-powered product features using modern LLM architectures.
  • Define detailed technical specifications that AI agents can execute against effectively.
  • Create and maintain high-quality engineering documentation, standards and conventions.
  • Improve developer productivity by removing friction from build, testing and deployment processes.
  • Develop reusable AI tooling, frameworks, skills, sub-agents and shared engineering capabilities.
  • Establish best practices and governance for reviewing AI-generated code.
  • Implement robust evaluation frameworks, testing strategies and production monitoring.
  • Continuously optimise AI workflows for quality, performance, cost and scalability.

Requirements

  • Experience in building and deploying LLM-powered applications at scale.
  • Familiarity with tool calling, structured outputs, streaming responses, and agent workflows.
  • Proficient in evaluation frameworks, testing harnesses, and AI quality measurement.
  • Knowledge of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and context engineering techniques.
  • Experience diagnosing retrieval, reasoning, and generation failures.
  • Ability to handle production monitoring, optimisation, and observability.
  • Expertise in cost management, token optimisation, and model routing.
  • Experience with designing secure AI systems, especially in regulated environments.
