Overview
We are seeking a skilled Back End Developer with expertise in Node.js to join a dynamic team focused on enhancing a high-traffic global E-commerce platform's pricing and inventory systems. This contract position involves hands-on development to create reliable, scalable back-end services that effectively process millions of customer searches across international markets. The selected candidate will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and take ownership of solutions from initial investigation through to deployment.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve pricing, inventory, and availability services.
- Develop quote-caching and data freshness strategies.
- Design resilient APIs and third-party integrations.
- Reduce latency and enhance platform performance.
- Balance pricing accuracy with cache efficiency and infrastructure cost.
- Improve monitoring, tracing, and production observability.
- Own solutions from investigation through to deployment.
Requirements
- Strong commercial experience with Node.js and TypeScript.
- Experience in building pricing, inventory, or availability systems.
- Background in high-traffic E-commerce, marketplace, or travel platforms.
- Deep understanding of caching, data freshness, and cache invalidation.
- Ability to design reliable APIs using retries, timeouts, and backpressure.
- Good knowledge of SQL.
- Experience integrating unreliable or poorly documented third-party APIs.
- Strong production ownership across testing, CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring.
