Biomedical Scientist

Overview

The Biomedical Scientist will be integral to the mobilisation and delivery of NHS Histology insourcing services, working closely with Histopathology departments to transition towards in-house capacity. This role requires experienced professionals who will contribute to operational delivery and the routine Histology pathway, enhancing quality and efficiency within the lab environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of routine Histology services.
  • Participate in tissue transfer and A/B specimen dissection.
  • Deliver embedding, microtomy, and slide production activities.
  • Support quality assurance and laboratory workflow objectives.
  • Contribute towards productivity and turnaround time performance.
  • Engage in routine quality assurance activities.

Requirements

  • HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist.
  • Recent UK Histopathology experience.
  • Competency in A/B specimen dissection.
  • Independent competency in embedding and microtomy.
  • Experience working within UKAS-accredited laboratories.
  • Strong understanding of Histology laboratory workflows.
