Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Data Architect to play a pivotal role in developing a trusted enterprise view of a large public-sector technology estate. The successful contractor will work closely with various stakeholders across product, architecture, engineering, security, and commercial teams to design and implement the underlying data model, ensuring effective governance and maintenance of information across services, systems, and platforms.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement an enterprise data model covering services, systems, and platforms.
- Establish data ownership, stewardship, governance, and lifecycle principles.
- Design approaches for collecting, validating, and maintaining architecture data.
- Evaluate enterprise architecture tools and support the implementation of solutions.
- Gather stakeholder requirements and prioritize data domains.
- Develop sustainable processes for maintaining trusted information.
- Establish data-quality controls for completeness, ownership, and accuracy.
- Enable reporting, analysis, strategic planning, and investment decisions.
Requirements
- Experience designing enterprise data models for large, complex technology estates.
- Strong knowledge of metadata management, information architecture, and data governance.
- Proven experience taking data models from concept to implementation in Agile environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture or configuration-management tools such as LeanIX, Ardoq, Alfabet, or ServiceNow CMDB.
- Knowledge of data quality, lineage, and lifecycle management principles.
- AWS knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management skills; experience in central government or public sector is desirable.
- Active SC clearance is mandatory.
