Overview
We are seeking a Data Governance Consultant to lead the integration of enterprise-grade governance, data trust, and stewardship practices in complex, secure data environments for our client in the defence sector. This role involves collaborating closely with both technical delivery teams and senior stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency and drive mission value through effective data governance strategies. The consultant will engage in assessing current data maturity, developing governance frameworks, and mentoring emerging data stewards, ensuring a comprehensive approach to data management.
Responsibilities
- Lead stakeholder interviews to assess current-state data maturity and audit existing enterprise data assets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement effective governance models and policy frameworks.
- Partner with client leadership to deploy structured business glossaries and metadata management processes.
- Establish data quality management programs, including validation rules and monitoring mechanisms.
- Support Master Data Management initiatives through mapping entities and setting data approval workflows.
- Coach emerging data stewards on operational policies and procedures for compliant data usage.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in developing governance strategies tailored to operational needs.
- Hands-on experience with modern governance platforms such as Microsoft Purview or Collibra.
- Strong functional knowledge of metadata management and data quality principles.
- Ability to translate governance concepts into tangible business outcomes.
- Excellent consultative skills with experience engaging both technical teams and executive stakeholders.
