Overview
The Fractional Finance Director will play a critical role in transforming the finance function for a growing distribution business. The individual will partner closely with the new Managing Director to enhance financial processes, integrate robust reporting, and lead the selection and implementation of a new ERP system to support strategic business objectives. This hybrid role will focus on both assessing current practices and guiding future developments within the finance team.
Responsibilities
- Assess and improve existing finance team, processes, and Sage 50 setup to identify gaps.
- Build a commercial finance overlay to provide timely insights into business performance.
- Extract meaningful management information focusing on product and customer profitability.
- Introduce budgeting and forecasting practices to align with the company's growth strategy.
- Evaluate external accounting services and recommend functions to bring in-house.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of a new ERP/finance system.
- Manage the implementation of the new system including data migration and testing.
- Ensure robust stock control and accurate margin reporting post-implementation.
Requirements
- Proven experience in ERP selection and implementation through a full project cycle.
- Strong knowledge of stock control systems and processes.
- Experience in designing and enhancing margin reporting.
- Capability to act as a finance business partner to senior management.
- Ability to work on a fractional basis with efficient prioritization.
- Background in distribution, manufacturing, or product-based businesses with physical stock.
- Familiarity with shortlisted finance systems (Sage, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Xero).
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with experience in owner-managed or PE-backed businesses.
