Overview
The Head of Data Engineering will lead the data engineering function, overseeing the development and execution of the enterprise data engineering strategy within a Microsoft Fabric framework. This role involves providing senior technical leadership, managing a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring the integration of data across various enterprise platforms. The contractor will drive best practices in data governance and operational excellence while fostering innovation in cloud-first data architectures and engineering standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Data Engineering function and own the enterprise data engineering strategy and architecture roadmap.
- Provide senior technical leadership across Microsoft Fabric and its associated technologies.
- Design and oversee cloud-first data architectures, ensuring effective migration from legacy platforms.
- Lead the integration strategy across key enterprise platforms and systems.
- Develop and manage a multidisciplinary engineering team, establishing robust engineering standards.
- Own data governance, security, and quality controls to ensure compliance and data integrity.
- Establish CI/CD practices and optimize performance for Spark workloads and data delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a data engineering leadership role, particularly with Microsoft Fabric and associated tools.
- Strong understanding of cloud-first data architectures, including Delta Lake and medallion patterns.
- Experience in migrating legacy data platforms to modern cloud solutions like Azure.
- Expertise in integrating enterprise systems and data management practices./
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance frameworks, including Microsoft Purview.
- Proficient in DevOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure-as-code.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse technical teams.
