Overview
We are seeking a skilled Lead Process Engineer for a 6-month contract role, focusing on high-value projects within the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. You will take the lead on process engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with customers and multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative and safe engineering solutions. This hybrid position allows for three days on-site work and two days of remote work each week.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and review of key process engineering deliverables, including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Perform process calculations, hydraulic calculations, and equipment sizing.
- Provide technical leadership on reactor systems, filtration, drying, and mixing technologies.
- Coordinate activities with mechanical, electrical, automation, and project management teams.
- Act as Lead Process Engineer on multidisciplinary engineering projects, ensuring timely and on-budget completion of deliverables.
- Support design reviews, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and commissioning activities.
- Lead HAZOPs and promote process safety and operational excellence throughout project delivery.
- Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Significant process engineering experience in chemical processing or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Proven experience in leading complex engineering projects and strong process design capability.
- Hands-on experience with PFDs and P&IDs, as well as chemical reaction engineering, heat and mass transfer, and fluid flow.
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as ATEX, PED, GMP, ASME, and API.
- Familiarity with Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, or ChemCAD simulation software is preferred.
- Experience with batch processing and various separation technologies is desirable.
