Overview
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineering Supervisor for a hands-on, interim role in a busy heavy manufacturing environment. This 3-month contract position involves supervising the maintenance team while actively participating in fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance to ensure the machinery operates efficiently and safely. The supervisor will work closely with production to maintain plant availability and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of maintenance engineers/technicians.
- Carry out hands-on electrical and/or mechanical maintenance.
- Diagnose and rectify equipment faults and breakdowns.
- Coordinate planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance.
- Prioritize engineering work to minimize production downtime.
- Provide technical support and guidance to the maintenance team.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and to a high standard.
- Maintain relevant maintenance records and systems.
Requirements
- Recognized Level 3 apprenticeship or higher in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Significant experience in heavy manufacturing or a similar engineering environment.
- Proven maintenance engineering experience in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in maintenance.
- Strong fault-finding and breakdown response skills.
- Practical, hands-on approach to maintenance tasks.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a production setting.
- Understanding of engineering Health & Safety requirements.
