Overview
We are seeking two Functional Experts to contribute to an assessment engagement on a Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) platform, focusing on reconstructing the functionality of an existing system and developing a migration strategy. The successful candidates will work primarily in a remote capacity, collaborating daily with an international technical team, primarily based in South Africa, to produce essential deliverables for system modernization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct functional analysis of application modules to reconstruct business rules from code and relevant documentation.
- Build a comprehensive traceability matrix connecting modules, requirements, and sources.
- Map system interfaces towards ancillary systems and the messaging network.
- Perform gap analysis between the functional baseline and requested enhancements.
- Contribute to complexity assessments and module slicing criteria for testing strategies.
- Interact daily in English with the Java architect and other team members.
- Produce key deliverables including a functional dossier, interface inventory, and risk register.
- Run interviews and workshops with domain experts and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Proven experience with high value payment systems or financial market infrastructures such as national RTGS and TARGET2.
- Strong understanding of gross settlement mechanics including liquidity management and queues.
- Familiarity with the business day cycle and reporting processes.
- Working knowledge of ISO 20022 standards and migration logic.
- Ability to read and interpret source code to extract business rules effectively.
- Experience in functional modeling using BPMN or UML notations.
- Demonstrated experience in migration or modernization projects with a focus on non-regression strategies.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken, for daily communication in a distributed team environment.
